Manufacturing Process Engineer

PRIMARY PURPOSE: Responsible Engineer for automated and manual assembly equipment in the daily production of high quality axles by providing technical information, documentation, support, and guidance, and by participating as a cross-functional team member to help resolve issues relating to assembly. Research, develop, design, and integrate PC and PLC controllers and drive systems for the purpose of supporting manufacturing and assembly operations as well as advanced Engineering and Training Support plant-wide.

Responsibilities:
Assist with investment planning in assigned department.
Budget and control costs of assembly and machining methods.
Take personal responsibility for quotes on existing projects.
Create and update required process documentation.
Evaluate and update documents according to Process Change Requests (PCR's
Develop layout and material flow plans.
Work with product engineering, customers, and suppliers to develop prototype and production parts.
Create specifications, recommendations and designs for tools, fixtures, gages, equipment, and processes.
Troubleshoot issues involving controls programs and provide advanced support to various software packages and Controls documents.
Make program modifications as needed for efficient operation of plant machinery as well as HMI Interface and graphics applications for more efficient operator interaction.
Control PG and laptop devices that are necessary for troubleshooting equipment.
Formulate action plans when needed to ensure that major issues are resolved.
Work in partnership with machine vendors and GKN manufacturing engineers to design and develop effective automated PLC control and drive systems to support the production requirements and goals. Make recommendations for improvements to systems as needed.
Provide direction and train maintenance personnel in corrective maintenance and installation of electronic equipment.
Prepare training curriculum and offer instruction on various software packages and processes to Maintenance and advanced support staff

QUALIFICATIONS

Four-year Manufacturing Engineering Degree or equivalent degree in closely related field - required.
3
years' experience in assembly environment - metalworking industry preferred
